Anu ang Registered Master Electrician o RME?


Dahil sa pag-taas ng demand marami ang nangangarap na magkaron ng lisensya bilang isang Registered Master Electrician (RME) dito sa ating bansa ngunit hindi biro o basta-batsa ang magkaron ng lisensya nito kailangan mo makapasa sa PRC board exam for RME na under ng Board of Electrical Engineering at kailngan may sapat na experience at nasa hustong edad bago ka makapag exam; at ito'y ginaganap dalawang beses sa isang taon, kadalasan ay sa buwan ng April at September. Sa ibang bansa katulad ng Canada ang RME ay tinatawag na Journey Man.

Anu ang pagkakaiba ng Master Electrician sa Registered Master Electrician?
Ayun sa batas ang salitang Master Electrician ay yung mga rehistrado under ng RA 184 at sa pagdaan ng taon nagkaron ng pagbabago sa batas at ito'y pinalitan ng Registered Master Electrician o RME at under na ng RA 7920 na tinatawag na "The New Electrical Engineering Law" na nilagdaan ng Pangulong Fidel V. Ramos noong February 24, 1995 na sa kasalukuyang batas na sinusunod ngaun ng mga registered electrical practitioner katuald ng PEE, REE at RME.

Sino nga ba at anu ang kailangan para makapag-exam ka ng RME?

ito ang mga sumosunod:

Based on RA 7920 "The New Electrical Engineering Law"
SECTION 18:  Qualification of Applicants for Registered Master Electrician Examination - Any person applying for admission to the master electrician examinations, as herein provided, shall establish to the satisfaction of the Board that on or before the date of registration, he possesses the following qualification:

(a) He is a citizen of the Philippines

(b) He is at least eighteen (18) years of age

(c) He is good reputation with high moral values

(d) He is not been finally convicted by the court of an offense involving moral turpitude; and

(e) He has any of the following technical backgrounds;

1) Has completed at least three (3) years of a five-year Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering (BSEE) program or a three year course in electrical engineering technology from engineering school recognized by the Philippine government and in addition, has a subsequent specific record of one (1) year practice in electrical wiring and installation, operation and maintenance of utilization devices and equipment, or

(kung ikaw ay tapos ng three (3) years course sa Electrical Engineering or BSEE at electrical engineering technology program at may isang taon (1 year) kang experience sa elctrical kahit bilang isang assistant electrician o kahit anung may kinalaman sa electrical na trabaho pwede ka ng mag-exam. Ang tawag ko dito ay 3-1)

2) Has graduated from a two-year electrician's course of instruction from a vocational or trade school recognized by the Philippine government and in addition, has at least two (2) years of apprenticeship after completion of the course of instruction on electrical wiring and installation, operation and maintenance of utilization devices and equipment, or

(kung ikaw naman ay tapos o may certificate ng two (2) years sa mga vacational o trade school at my dalawang taon kang experience sa labas bilang isang apprenticeship o assistant electrician ay pwede kna mag exam. Ang tawag ko dito ay 2-2)

3) Has completed from a one-year electrician's course of instruction from a vocational or trade school recognized by the Philippine government and in addition, has at least three years of apprenticeship after completion of the course of instruction on electrical wiring and installation, operation and maintenance of utilization devices and equipment, or

4) Has completed a four year high school education or its equivalent and in addition, has a subsequent specific record of at least five (5) years of apprenticeship in electrical wiring and installation, operation and maintenance of utilization devices and equipment.

Scope of Examination para sa Registered Master Electrician

SECTION 19: Scope of Examination - As a prerequisite for registration as professional electrical engineer, registered electrical engineer and registered master electrician, the applicants shall comply with the following requirements;

(c) Registered master electrician:

The applicant shall pass a written examination on the different subjects or group of subjects as follows:

(1) Technical subjects:


  • Ohm's law: Calculation for resistance, current, voltage and power for direct current and alternating current circuit.
  • Electrical machines: Description and operating principles of motors, generators and transformers.
  • Control equipment: Description and functions of fuses, overload relays, safety switches, circuit breaker, star-delta motor starters, transformers type motor-starters, DC motor starters.
  • Electrical components: Description of resistors, capacitors, inductors and semi-conductors
  • Maintenance and repair: Description of the procedures in the maintenance of electrical machinery
  • Test equipment: Types and uses of measuring instruments
  • Electrical engineering law provisions pertaining to registered master electricians.
  • Other related subjects as maybe prescribed by the Board.
(2) Philippine Electrical Code Parts 1 and 2:
  • General requirements for installation of electric wiring equipment
  • Approved wiring method
  • Types of wiring materials and wiring devices
  • Installation of switchboard and panelboards
  • Installation in hazardous locations
  • Wiring diagrams of different types of motor starters with motor protection;
  • Drawing symbols and wiring plans
  • Other related subjects as may be prescribed by the Board
     The number of test questions shall be that the examinations can be finished in one (1) eight-hour day

     The relative weight shall be fifty percent (50%) for technical subjects and fifty percent (50%) for Philippine Electrical Code.

     The passing general average rating shall be seventy percent (70%) with no grade fifty percent (50%) in any subjects.

> Ang RME examination ay ginganap isang araw lamang sa loob ng walong oras at nahahati sa dalawa, sa umaga ay ang Technical subject at sa hapon ay ang Philippine Electrical Code or PEC na tig apat na oras. Marami sa nage-exam ay natatapos na agad ng maaga kung baga parang nagmamadali na para bang madali para sa kanila ang exam. Ang iba naman dahil sa wala na sila maisagot umaasa nalang sila sa jack-up o swerte. Hindi madali ang exam ng RME kaya kailngan may mga technique ka na ginagawa para ma-manage mo ng maayos ang oras mo, manage your time wisely ika nga.
> Tandaan kailngan ang average mo sa exam ay 70% para makapasa na hindi bababa ng 50% per subject sa technical at PEC. Dahil kapag may bumaba man lang na 50% kada subject ibig sabihin failed or pwedeng conditional.
> 50 per items ang exam 50 items sa Technical at 50 items sa PEC, ibig sabihin kung sa 50 items atleast kada subject makatama ka ng 35 points para mag average ka ng 70%.

Simple computation.
50x70%=35 points
50x50%=25 points

Last 2010 nung nag-exam ako ng RME ito ang nakuha ko.
Technical = 45 points
Average=(45/50)x100%
                = 90%
PEC = 35 points
Average = (35/50)x100%
                = 70%
Total ave. = (90+70)/2
                  = 80% - passed

> kung naka 25 points naman ako sa PEC at dahil mataas ang average ko sa technical passed parin kasi mahahatak ng 90% ko ung grade ko sa PEC na 50%.
Technical = 45 points
Average=(45/50)x100%
                = 90%
PEC = 25 points
Average = (25/50)x100%
                = 50%
Total ave. = (90+50)/2
                  = 70% - passed

> pero kung ako naman ay bumaba ng 50% sa PEC, sabihin na nating nakakuha ako ng 20% ito ay masasabi nating conditional.
Technical = 45 points
Average=(45/50)x100%
                = 90%
PEC = 20 points
Average = (20/50)x100%
                = 40%
Total ave. = (90+40)/2
                  = 65% - conditional
>bakit conditional? kasi passed ka naman sa technical subject pero failed ka sa PEC dahil bumaba ka ng 50% ibig sabihin re-exam ka uli at ang kukunin mo nalang sa susunod ay kung anung subject ang failed mo kung sa PEC ka nag failed ibig sabihin yun ang kailangan mo kunin at ipasa sa susunod na exam, pero siyempre ayaw na nating mangyari yun kaya kinakailngan nating magaral at magbasa ng magbasa para isang beses nalang tayo mage-exam
